I’m excited to focus on bedroom design throughout July, sharing tips, tricks, and inspirational photos to help you create a retreat or personal oasis in your bedroom.
To boost comfort and satisfaction, pay attention to your furniture and how you style your bed. Another way to add personality is by introducing an accent wall. If you prefer a less cluttered look, an accent wall can be the perfect focal point to achieve the ambiance you’ve always wanted.
Here are a few fun accenting options to consider:
1. Classic accent wall
Painting a single wall in your bedroom is a proven way of adding more interest to a bedroom. Darker moody tones are still popular combined with bright or contrasting decor. Choose colours that will flow with the rest of your bedroom, or use the accent wall as a launching pad to restyle the entire room.
2. Two-toned paint
Take a step away from the traditional painted accent wall and think about one that’s two-toned or three-toned instead.
3. Wood planking/paneling
Using reclaimed wood throughout the house is a major trend at the moment – likely due to the ever-popular rustic modern theme. There are many different panels out there like peel-and-stick wood panels, 3D wood panels and wood look MDF wall panels. It is a matter of how real you need them to be and how much you are willing to invest. They all allow you to achieve a wood plank accent wall that can bring the cozy vibe to your bedroom.
4. Chalkboard
Chalkboard paint is a fun way to add character to your room, allowing you to have a slick black moment or let your creative juices flow and switch things up from time to time. It is a popular option in a kitchen or kid’s room, there’s no reason you can’t use it in your own bedroom room to create an accent wall though.
To avoid getting dust all over your living space, invest in chalkboard markers instead of traditional pieces of chalk for a mess-free project.
5. Wallpaper
Over time, wallpaper has claimed a bad reputation due to its traditionally tacky design and how difficult it is to remove. Today, temporary wallpaper is available and it comes in a variety of trendy colours and styles. Consider this option if you’re looking for something that will last a while, but doesn’t necessarily have to be permanent.
6. Mural
Consider a playful or dramatic mural for bringing your style and creativity to life in your bedroom.
7. Photo collage/gallery wall
Whether you want to hang pictures of you and your significant other, or display pieces of your own digital artwork or photography, putting a photo collage on display is a gorgeous option for an accent wall. Decide whether you’ll match the frames or use different shapes, sizes and colours to display your pictures.
Does your bedroom need a pick-me-up? If you love these ideas but can’t narrow it down to one, you may need some professional advice about which option would look best in your bedroom. Don’t hesitate to contact me to get started today, my initial in-home consultation is complimentary!
