This Carleton Heights makeover centers around a complete transformation of key spaces within the home, specifically the dining room family room, and powder room. The goal was to update these rooms with a refreshing coastal transitional style that blends the relaxed, airy feel of coastal design with clean lines and timeless elegance of transitional elements.
DINING ROOM
Coastal Dining Room Design
We started with the dining room, introducing an extendable table with rounded corners, a pedestal base, and two extra leaves—perfect for hosting family gatherings. Now, celebrating Christmas dinner for the whole family is a reality.
Together with the minimalistic transitional accents, the room’s coastal colour scheme featuring soft blues, whites, and sandy neutrals—enhances the overall harmony of the home. While it introduces a fresh, distinct look, the colours seamlessly blend with the rest of the home’s design, creating a bright and airy dining space that feels both inviting and cohesive with the broader atmosphere of the home.

POWDER ROOM
Powder Room Transformation
This bathroom transformation took the original dark, traditional powder room to a now bright, and transitional design. The before features deep red walls, an ornate dark wood vanity, and black granite countertops, creating a rich but heavy look.
In the after, the space is refreshed with a soft blue and white palette, clean lines, and a contemporary touch. The sleek vanity with shaker-style cabinetry pairs beautifully with the textured round mirror, adding a subtle focal point.

FAMILY ROOM
Bright and Airy Family Room Makeover
This once dull and dark family room needed a bright and airy refresh. Taking inspiration from coastal themes, the deep red walls we’re painted a light blue, the alcove above the fireplace wallpapered in a cool tone, and the dark furniture replaced with lighter, more streamlined pieces.
The shiny mahogany fireplace mantel and floors initially proposed as a challenge. With the addition of cool greys, blues and different textures helped create harmony within the space, seamlessly blending the richness of mahogany with the breezy coastal aesthetic, resulting in a balanced and inviting atmosphere that exudes both warmth and tranquility.
