The goal of this renovation was to convert a small storage room in a basement suite into a thoughtfully designed bathroom. We aimed to create a space that would be both comfortable and low-maintenance, with features to support aging in place. To enhance safety, we incorporated a grab bar for ease of entry and exit from the shower. To maintain a clean and uncluttered look, we added a concealed wall niche for shampoo bottles and a built-in shower bench for both function and comfort.
RECLAIMING SPACE WITH PURPOSE
A Bathroom Built for Comfort and Care
What was once an unfinished nook used for storage has been beautifully transformed into a bright, practical bathroom—complete with a walk-in shower, heated floors, generous storage, and strategically placed grab bars to ensure safe, easy access.
Since the client’s favourite colour is blue, we selected a glossy, oversized blue subway tile to make a bold yet personal statement in the shower. A charming penny-round mosaic on the floor draws the eye and enhances safety; the extra grout lines provide better traction, making the space both stylish and slip-resistant.
